Compared to "Spider-Man," this was LONG overdue. Fox and Marvel have offically set March 6, 2015 as the release date for the new "The Fantastic Four." The reboot will be directed by Josh Trask ("Chronicle"), although no word yet on whether or not any of the original cast will return. The first film and its sequel were released in 2005 and 2007, and scored worldwide grosses of $330M and $289M, respectively.

Although those numbers are on the low-end for big-budget comic book adaptations, Fox is obiviously hip to the fact that the Marvel brand name is the hottest thing in Hollywood right now. The studio will partner with Marvel to release "The Wolverine" this summer--featuring Hugh Jackman's fifth big screen appearance--while Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" will arrive July 18, 2014
